Visions FCU to launch '4 on the 4th' road race

ENDWELL, N.Y. - An ardent supporter of local running races has decided to launch a race of its own.

Visions Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the inaugural "4 on the 4th" road race taking place on the 4th of July.

The 4 mile course begins and ends at the organization's headquarters on Country Club Road in Endwell and winds its way through the nearby Park Manor neighborhood and past Highland Park.

Visions Community Development Manager Tim Strong says running is a great way to promote wellness and the community.

"Obviously, a lot of people will be back at this park later on that night watching the fireworks.  This is a nice way to start that morning just down the street and just continue to highlight all the great things that are going on in the Town of Union," said Strong.

The race starts at 8:40 in the morning and will be followed by a party featuring breakfast food items, beverages and family fun activities.

Visions is also looking for volunteers to help with the race.

To register to run or volunteer, go to RunSignup, com.

Proceeds from the event will support the John Mack Foundation which supplies lifesaving AED's to public gathering places.
