Vestal Police seeking assistance in identifying man who jumped from route 26 bridge

Vestal Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who reportedly jumped from the Route 26 bridge over the Susquehanna River last Friday at about 5:00 p.m.

Police say the man was described as white, possibly in his late teens to early 20’s with longer brown hair.

He was reported to be wearing a dark colored shirt, sneakers, and shorts that may have had a checkered pattern.

Vestal Police, with the aid of Vestal Fire and New York State Police have been searching the river with boats, sonar, helicopter, and dive teams.

Anyone with information about either a missing person or someone who matches that description is asked to call Vestal Police at 607-754-1316.
