UHS holds luncheon to honor volunteers for National Volunteer Week

Local News

UHS took time during National Volunteer Week to honor the women, men and teens who give their time to healthcare.

The hospital holds an annual luncheon to recognize its volunteers.

UHS has a wide variety of volunteer from seniors, to college and high school students working in different departments all across the hospital.

During the past year, 488 volunteers gave over 58 thousand hours of service throughout Binghamton General, Wilson Medical Center, and UHS Senior Living.

Volunteer Services Manager Jeanne Carangelo says volunteers a crucial part of UHS’ operations. “They are very very important. A lot of our volunteers are the first face that people see when they come into the hospital. They’re very welcoming and eager to and happy to help. They also help in many areas throughout the hospital.

Carangelo added that they are proud of the fact that they are one of the only hospitals to have a completely volunteer-run gift shop.
