The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown is showcasing a number of Tri-Cities Opera alums in its productions this Summer.

Glimmerglass is underway now through the end of August.

Among the singers performing is Mezzo-Soprano Mary Beth Nelson who was a resident artist with TCO last season.

At Glimmerglass, Nelson sings the role of Betty Parris in “The Crucible” by Robert Ward.

She also has parts in “Sweeney Todd,” “Lost Luggage” and the children’s opera “Wilde Tales.”

“This is the prime place to be for the Summer. As a young artist, or as a viewer, as an audience member.  There’s something for everyone. For the theologist, for the thrillist in Sweeney Todd, for the person who loves new music and new opera. There’s something for everyone. It’s the place to be this Summer,” said Nelson.

Nelson is reunited with two other TCO veterans, Meroe Khalia Adeeb and Rexford Tester.

All 3 had roles in the Tri-Cities production of The Italian Girl in Algiers.

Adeeb, who earned a Master’s Degree in Music at Binghamton University last year, is Sarah Good in “The Crucible” at Glimmerglass and also appears in “La Boheme” and “Lost Luggage.”

“The group of people that we are surrounded by, they’re just so talented. I really love working with the artistic staff that they have here, the music staff is top of the line and my colleagues are amazing. So, I really have an opportunity to learn so much from everyone that surrounds me,” said Adeeb.

Adeeb and Nelson will return to Binghamton this Fall to sing in the Tri-Cities Opera production of “La Traviata.”
