Traffic stop leads to drug arrest of two Broome County men, one man from the Bronx

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - A specialized New York State Police Unit arrested three people for possessing prescription drugs, heroin, fentanyl, and items used to sell drugs.

On Monday afternoon just before 3 p.m., the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (C-NET) conducted a traffic stop in the area of the Route 17 West entrance ramp, near Airport road in Johnson City.

Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered a hidden compartment containing two ounces of powdered fentanyl, Oxycodone tablets, over thee and a half grams of powdered heroin along with marijuana, digital scales, and packaging material.

Nearly $6,000 in suspected drug proceeds were also found.

Twenty-seven year old Coren Walker of the Bronx, 40 year old Scott Layton of Johnson City, and 24 year old Giovanni Foster of Johnson City were arrested on felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Other charges were also issued.
