The Canal Plaza project on Binghamton’s North Side will be undergoing an environmental cleanup.
The site located at 435 State Street will be remediated by the 3D Development Group with oversight provided by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
The goal is to achieve cleanup levels that protect public health and the environment.
The work includes excavating about 20 cubic yards of lead-contaminated soil, importing clean backfill and removing floating petroleum.
There will also be an environmental easement recorded to restrict site uses as well as the implementation of a site management plan.
