The annual opening of an outdoor summer camp is right around the corner.
Starting on July 1st, Camp Sertoma in Kirkwood will be offering day camp and some overnight stays for kids ages 5 through 16.
Children attending the camp can enjoy outdoor activities such as; swimming, kayaking, basketball, horseback riding, archery, and crafts.
This year, the dining hall has been renovated and features new appliances in the kitchen and updates in the restrooms and locker room areas as well.
Marybeth Smith is the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton which operates the camp.
She says Camp Sertoma has been entertaining kids for generations.
Smith says, “And kids go year after year. That’s a great way of telling everybody how much they love camp. And many of them go from the first session to the second to the third, and that’s another way of just showing that camp Sertoma is very important and a great place, and the kids really do love it.”
There are three 2-week sessions during the Summer.
The cost to attend the camp is 400 dollars per 2 week session and includes all activities, food, and even transportation.
Scholarships are available for families who have trouble covering the cost.
