The Chenango River Trail has a new map that shows Binghamton at the center of a region renown for innovation.
Tech Works! on Water Street has installed a 300 square foot topographical map mural on the side of its museum building, depicting the region from Cooperstown through the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes west to Lake Erie.
The three-dimensional map, titled “Here In The Heart of New York,” highlights our area’s river valleys and lakes and was created with the assistance of the U-S Geological Survey.
Board Member Chuck Goodwin says the study of STEM lead to a lot of local inventions on display within Tech Works!
“None of the great products, artifacts, machines, simulators and devices would have been possible without solving problems through the integration and application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” Goodwin says.
The cost of the mural was covered by a grant from AARP’s Livable Communities 2018 Challenge Grant Program.
The map includes a QR code that people can use to look up information about the region.
