BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Summer Savoyards take to the high seas in their latest production.
They will be performing "The Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert and Sullivan this weekend at Binghamton University's Anderson Center.
This will mark the 57th season the Savoyards have been producing Gilbert and Sullivan shows and lead producer Dylan Ruffo says this is perhaps their most popular work.
The show follows a young pirate that goes off to find a woman to marry him and in the process comes across many bumps in the road.
Ruffo says that there is a nice variety of catchy and recognizable music.
"You're definitely going to leave the theatre with something in your ear which is a great thing. Music is awesome, the comedy is hilarious and there's a lot of great sight gags and a lot of schticky things that we throw in," said Ruffo.
"Pirates of Penzance" will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the Anderson Center Box Office or at their website SummerSavoyards.org.
Prices are $22 for the general public, $20 for seniors and students, and $12 for children 12 and under.
