A 2008 children’s book titled Little Blue Truck is coming to life at the Discovery Center.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today in the Story Garden, the new home for a 1949 Chevy pick up truck that was restored by students at Broome-Tioga BOCES.
High school students in the Automotive Services and Auto Body Repair classes made the needed repairs to the truck.
After they were done, Horticultural students from the Preparation for Adult Learning Success Program along with kids in the Oaktree program planted flowers in the truck bed’s garden.
Austin Thomas, a student in the Automotive Services class, was excited to see his work on display.
“Just to put something here, it’s a lot of fun for us.”
“It’s amazing it really shows what we can do at BOCES. It’s a lot of fun and a lot of work.”
The truck and its relation to a children’s book fits in with the theme of the story garden.
Kids visiting the Discovery Center will now be able to explore the vehicle and dive into the tale of the Little Blue Truck.
