New York State is now accepting applications for its free-tuition program.

Students who will attend a SUNY or CUNY school in the 2018-19 school year, and whose parents make less than $110,000 per year, can now apply online for the Excelsior Scholarship.

The program covers tuition costs, after other scholarships and financial assistance, for students who are eligible.

Students must also take 30 credits per year and be on track to graduate on time along with other requirements.

The state says about 53 percent of SUNY/CUNY students attend college tuition-free thanks to the program.
