Some BB Guns are mistaken for real guns leading to an arrest

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Concerns over an armed man on the grounds of a local elementary after school on Wednesday were somewhat alleviated when it turned out to be a teenager with realistic looking BB guns.

New York State Police and Tioga County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call at TJ Watson Elementary, which is located in the Town of Owego but part of the Union-Endicott School District.

Police determined that a 17 year-old had out of the woods and into the school parking lot holding what looked like a black handgun, silver pistol, and brown rifle.

The weapons were determined to be BB guns.

The teen was issued a ticket for possession of a weapon on school grounds.
