A local florist is helping youngsters learn a little more about how things grow.
Renaissance Floral Gallery on Main Street in Binghamton hosted some preschoolers from the Family Enrichment Network yesterday for a Little Gardeners event.
The kids were able to tour the shop and greenhouse as well as the garden out back where some of the flowers and herbs are grown. Right now, irises, chives and mint are all in bloom. Volunteer gardener Chelsea Cleary says it’s fun to see the children’s curiosity.
“It’s amazing for the kids too because they really enjoy being able to run around in the back, and all the flowers. It’s a great opportunity for them to just experience being outdoors and the fun that comes with that.”
The kids also got to check out local artist Cory Ray at work painting flowers and bees. 199 Main Street has hosted a floral business for 70 years, first John’s Florist and now Renaissance Floral Gallery.
