Students had the chance to learn hands-on about the variety of engineering opportunities in our area.
The Raymond Corporation held its first ever Engineering Day at its headquarters in Greene.
More than 150 high school kids from 9 different school districts across the Southern Tier learned about career opportunities within engineering.
Many of the students in attendance are part of engineering programs at their school such as Project Lead the Way and P-Tech.
Raymond Vice President of Engineering Eric Heitmann says he wants to show local students the options they have in their own backyard. “I’m excited about all of the students here and very excited about engineering and the STEM programs. I’m also excited about students understanding and realizing that there’s opportunities right in this area right in their home town to be engineers and to have an engineering opportunity and career.”
The event featured more than 12 interactive exhibits including 3D printing, modeling and analysis and augmented reality technology.
Heitmann says the goal is to continue holding Engineering Day in future years.
