Prospect Mountain construction resumes

Local News

The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that construction has resumed on the Prospect Mountain Project.

The second phase of the $152 million project is reconstructing 9 miles of highway on I-81 and Route 17.

It is replacing bridges and reconfiguring ramps to improve traffic patterns in one of the area’s busiest travel corridors.

Some of the work planned to be completed this season includes the Route 17 Eastbound Flyover bridge, opening all the exit 4 on and off ramps, repaving Bevier Street and Broad Ave, and installing traffic cameras and detectors to help monitor, manage and publicize traffic conditions.
