Preparations are well underway for one of the biggest holidays in Greater Binghamton: Parade Day.

At House of Reardon’s on Binghamton’s Eastside, a loyal group of family, friends and customers volunteer their time helping owners Bob and Lynette Norris prepare for the restaurant’s popular boiled ham and cabbage dinners.

This year, 700 pounds of ham, 600 pounds of cabbage, 600 pounds of potatoes, 250 pounds of carrots and 100 loaves of bread are being prepped for the dinners that go on sale starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Today is the 19th anniversary of Bob and Lynette taking over the family business which was started in 1922.

​​​​Norris says that even though they increase the amount they prepare each year, they always run out, typically at around 5 p.m.

So, Norris recommends people call in their order early for eat in or take out.

Reardon’s even offers curbside pickup.

They’ll be taking phone orders starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow at 722-9674.
