Possible Tornado hits Bradford County, National Weather Service Teams to Assess Damage Thursday

FRANKLIN Twp. Pa. (18 NEWS) - The National Weather Service is sending teams out Thursday to assess storm damage in Bradford County. They will officially determine if a tornado touched down.

There were reports of homes destroyed, trees and wires down near Bailey Corners Road in Franklin Township. 18 News was on the scene overnight and was able to capture some of the damage.

The Tornado Warning was issued at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday and continued until 9 p.m. Thousands are without power in the areas hardest hit, according to Penelec. 

Another of the hardest hit areas, Wilkes-Barre Township in Luzerne County. Our sister station WBRE-TV reports major damage to a shopping plaza there. 

The National Weather Service will be surveying damage there as well.
