ENDICOTT, N.Y. - Broome County's only Polish restaurant is celebrating five years in business.
Podlasie Polish Restaurant on Route 17C in Glendale marked its 5th anniversary Tuesday.
The family-run eatery features authentic, homemade Polish cuisine with dishes like kielbasa, pierogi and golabek.
Patrick Grzelak runs the restaurant with his parents and sister.
He says the dishes are made from old family recipes.
Grzelak says that while the food appeals to everyone, people of Eastern European descent comment on its authenticity.
"We've got a lot of customers that say that it reminds them of their mother's food, their father's food or just their grandparents' food. It definitely brings back memories. Anytime they send us a compliment like that, we really appreciate it, it means a lot to us," said Grzelak.
Podlasie served cake to its loyal customers last night as part of the celebration.
The restaurant recently added outdoor patio seating.
It's open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
