BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - One of 2 teenaged girls struck by an alleged drugged driver on Monday afternoon has died.
Binghamton High School Junior Harper Stantz died from her injuries Wednesday.
Stantz and her friend, Binghamton graduate Britney Laserinko were hit by a vehicle at around 3:30 p.m. while they were walking along the sidewalk on Beethoven Street on the city's Westside.
In a statement, the school district says Harper "brightened the lives of all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed.
We extend our deepest condolences and support to the Stantz family as they cope with this immense loss."
Meanwhile, Laserinko remains hospitalized in Syracuse where she underwent significant surgery and is currently in stable condition.
A GoFundMe page to support both families has raised more than $52,000:
