While Meals on Wheels relies on cars to make its deliveries, the organization is relying on one make in particular for more than just a ride.
Meals on Wheels of Western Broome is once again benefiting from Subaru’s annual Share the Love event.
An announcement was held today at Matthews Subaru on Old Vestal Road.
From now until January 2nd, anyone who purchases or leases a new Subaru can designate one of four charities, including Meals on Wheels, to receive $250.
Jackie Pangilinan is the Executive Director of the Western Broome chapter which covers Endicott, Endwell, Vestal, Johnson City and the Town of Maine.
She says her group uses both private and corporate donations to keep the fees they charge to recipients as low as possible.
Meals on Wheels of WB Director Jackie Pangilinan says, “The Share The Love event brings in a lot more than a typical fundraiser that we might hold. So, we really do rely on this event for a big portion of our donations for the year.”
Pangilinan says her organization will know sometime in March how much it will receive from this year’s campaign.
She says the Share the Love event generated over $6,000 for Meals on Wheels of Western Broome last year and $9,000 the year before.
