Matthews Auto was sharing the love from the sale of Subarus with local charities today.
Matthews Subaru presented a check for $21,004 to the Broome County Humane Society and one for $6,765 dollars to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome.
The donations come as a result of Subaru’s ‘Share the Love’ initiative.
From last November through January, $250 from the sale of each Subaru was donated to charities of the customer’s choice.
Customers at Matthew’s for the 4th time chose the Human Society and Meals on Wheels.
Humane Society Executive Director Karen Matson says this donation helps them out significantly. “It’s great because it helps us realize that the community has faith in what we do. Despite some of the hurdles that we see on a regular basis they know that we’re doing good work and we are giving back. We are able to place animals with these people that are supporting us and then they have their forever companion. It’s really heartwarming to know that they have the faith and confidence in our organization.”
Matson says the donation helps them with their expenses from providing animals with the necessary shots, spaying and neuterings along with flea and veterinary care.
She says the Broome County Humane Society takes in around 1,200 animals a year.
