JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - A local manufacturer of pharmacy automation is experiencing rapid growth and looking to hire more workers.
Innovation in Johnson City creates software and hardware for robotic medication dispensers.
It has already added about 50 new employees in the past four months and has openings for around 20 more.
Positions include IT, manufacturing, customer service and software, electrical and mechanical engineering.
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Tom Boyer says Innovation's fourth generation robots are the most accurate and productive in the industry.
"Each one of these robots will produce up to 300 scripts an hour. Pretty much day-in, day-out. They don't take vacation, they don't get sick. It's a highly productive, high quality, very safe environment," said Boyer.
Customers include large pharmacies in the Air Force, the VA, mail order pharmacies and hospitals like the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins.
Innovation is also looking to consolidate its two locations into one facility somewhere in Greater Binghamton.
The company is holding a recruitment fair next Thursday at the Tioga Career Center on Route 38 in Owego from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
