A Johnson City woman has been sentenced to two years in prison for filing fraudulent income tax returns.

Forty-one year-old Lavyette Garcia admitted that she filed 110 false returns on behalf of others, including fictitious income levels and falsely claiming tax refunds.

The US Attorney’s Office says the bogus returns totaled nearly $850,000 in refunds with Garcia keeping as much as half for herself.
