BINGHAMTON - A new year means a mix of newly elected and re-elected local officials and today, they were sworn-in to to their positions.
We start at the Broome County Office Building where newly-elected County Clerk Joe Mihalko was inaugurated this morning at 11.
He was sworn in alongside his wife and members of his family in a ceremony conducted by Village of Johnson City and Town of Union Justice Gregory Thomas.
Mihalko defeated first-time candidate Dan Livingston by a margin of more than 4-thousand votes.
Mihalko says he's excited to start the job.
"It's good to start working and get going here. We're over the campaign season now. It's time to get down to business, take care of things and help the community out," says Mihalko.
Mihalko says he plans to spend time tomorrow meeting with his staff to discuss changes he'd like to implement in the Clerk's office.
They include forming a mobile Clerk's Office along with improving passport request and photo services.
He replaces retired County Clerk Republican Ricky Blythe who was recently elected to Windsor Town Justice.
