Jehovah's Witnesses to hold regional convention in Wilkes-Barre

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Local Jehovah's Witnesses are responding to the challenges of current times with a call for courage.

The Christian denomination is holding its regional convention in Wilkes-Barre later this month.

The event includes a number of speakers, interviews, and Bible studies encouraging people to find their inner courage.

Everyone is invited to the gathering, whether or not you are a Jehovah's Witness.

Circuit Overseer Derrick Davey says the goal is to prepare everybody for the twists and turns of life.

"Well the theme or title of the convention is Be Courageous. And because we are living in very challenging times, not only with disasters occurring worldwide, the economy upheaval, and in different parts civil unrest, people need to have a strong faith. So the program is designed to build that courage to cope with all the different challenges of life," said Davey.

The convention will be at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza August 24 - 26.
