Goodwill Theatre mural by Bon Fed nears completion

Local News

Local artist and caricaturist John Ed Bon Fed says his own personal Sistine Chapel is nearly complete.

Since 2007, Bon Fed has been painting an audience wall inside the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage in Johnson City.

For a donation to the Goodwill Theatre project, patrons could have their portraits added to the wall.

Since then, hundreds of local people have been depicted along with a few historical figures such as Rod Serling and Mark Twain.

Bon Fed says he has just one more to go. “The only last one that has to go on it is myself. And I’m still trying to figure out where that will go.  It will probably be somewhere not so prominent because I’m such a humble guy. It’s the end. When I do that, it’s officially over for this project.”

Since our interview, Bon Fed has returned to his winter retreat in Florida.

He says that when he returns in the Spring, he plans an official unveiling to celebrate the project’s completion.
