JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - Around 100 people are slated to lose their jobs as Gannett Publishing plans to close its newspaper printing facility in Johnson City.
Gannett, the publisher of the Press and Sun Bulletin, will consolidate its printing operation to Rochester, effective in the middle of June.
The company says it will assist affected employees by helping them apply for jobs at the Rochester facility.
According to Central New York Media President George Troyano, the decision was made to save money.
Gannett owns USA Today along with Binghamton, Ithaca and Elmira newspapers.
Delivery times for the local paper are not expected to significantly change.
