A Harpur College grad has returned to his college town as he looks to rebrand himself as a fine arts photographer.
Ned Weisman has 36 of his photographs on display at the Lost Dog Cafe in a show called “A Touch of Gray Unfiltered.”
The photos were taken during his cross-country trip from Los Angeles here and includes images of Tucson, Montauk and Binghamton.
Weisman, who grew up in Queens, was a cinema major at Harpur College beginning in 1969 and worked in local TV after graduating.
In 1980, he moved to LA, embarking on a successful career as an editor and director in Hollywood.
When that chapter ended, he decided to return to his roots.
“Oddly, left there February 1st, 2018 and my show opens February 1st, 2019. So, it’s a pretty amazing year I’ve just had. If you look at the photographs, it’s reflected by the intense scenes that you see everywhere. It’s pretty amazing.”
There will be an opening reception with Weisman for this month’s First Friday Art Walk from 6 until 9.
He says anyone who buys one of his prints Friday will receive a free slice of his world famous cheesecake.
