Democratic primary in NY's 23rd too close to call

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( 18 News) -

The Democratic Primary in New York’s 23rd Congressional district is too close to call.  Unofficial results from the NYS Board of Elections website has Max Della Pia leading  Tracy Mitrano by just 26 votes.

Della Pia received 7,022 votes,  Mitrano received 6,996 votes in the five way race.  Linda Andrei, Ian Golden and Edward Sundquist were also in the race. 

The absentee votes in the district still have to be counted.

The district includes all or parts of Tompkins, Yates, Seneca, Ontario, Tioga, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung and Schuyler counties.

The winner of the Democratic primary will face incumbent Republican Tom Reed in November.
