A man charged with stabbing a 101-year-old woman to death in Rochester faced a judge Wednesday morning.
Greg Jesmer, age 54, was charged with murder Tuesday after the body of Marcia Morrison was found in her apartment at an apartment complex off of Westfall Road.
Police were called to the complex just before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning when Morrison didn’t answer the door for her senior center pick-up.
After finding Morrison’s body, police swarmed the complex and launched a multi-hour homicide investigation. Police say Morrison’s body had been stabbed repeatedly to the neck and throat.
Police say Jesmer was Morrison’s neighbor. But, the motive behind the crime remains unknown.
In an unrelated case, Jesmer is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Police say these charges stem from an incident where he offered a 13-year-old girl $500 to come back to his apartment.
According to a felony complaint, Jesmer followed the girl off the bus and continued running after her even after she asked him to go away. Officers say Jesmer continued to follow her until an adult intervened.
Jesmer is being held in Monroe County Jail. His next hearing is set for July 30. Police say he could face additional charges in the case.
