BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Peoples Security Bank and Trust is the Greater Binghamton Chamber's Business of the Week.
The Scranton-based banking chain has 26 branches stretching from the Southern Tier of New York to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania, including two in Broome County, on Main Street in Binghamton and Conklin Road in Conklin.
Peoples Security offers checking, savings and business accounts plus CD's.
It also provides wealth management and trust services.
Assistant Vice President and Binghamton Branch Manager Marian Avery says Peoples has a people-oriented culture.
"We strive to give excellent customer service. Customers come first. We have low fees or no fees. We offer a Freedom checking account. It's a free checking account to customers, no minimum, no service charge," Avery says.
The bank traces its roots back to 1905 when it was founded as the First National Bank of Hallstead.
In 1965, it merged with the Hop Bottom Bank to form Peoples National Bank.
It opened its first branch in New York State in 2003 and changed its name to Peoples Security Bank and Trust after merging with Penn Security Bank and Trust in 2013.
