Another effort to encourage shoppers to buy local this holiday season resulted in a special event at the Broome County Regional Farmers Market.
The Agency had a Buy In Broome booth at last night’s Broome County Holiday Artisan Market organized by Cornell Cooperative Extension.
The pop-up shop included “Broome County Good Life” branded merchandise along with various products made locally.
In fact, the entire market had gift-giving options from local manufacturers.
Stacey Duncan, Deputy Director of the Agency, says promotion is one aspect of supporting local producers. “How do you partner with potential vendors here? How do you bring more investment to them? How do you help them grow? So, the more we can bring visibility to a location like the Farmers Market through this program, the more we can help them expand into our economy.”
The Agency also announced a $5,000 sponsorship of the Farmers Market over the next two years.
