A new performing arts program aims to give high school students a fun professional theatre education this summer.
Broome Community Youth Educational Theatre Intensive or BC YETI will be held from July 15th through August 5th at Binghamton High School.
The program will conclude with a production of the musical “School of Rock” based on the movie starring Jack Black.
The group was founded by Omar Mack, Austin Kiley and Colin Gallagher.
Both Kiley and Gallager graduated from Vestal and participated in area summer theatre programs.
Kiley, who serves as the music director, says they want to give students the same valuable performing arts education they received growing up.
“That sense of professionalism and educationalism, rather than just doing a show or just doing an education workshop its all of it together in a safe exploratory, professional setting.”
Auditions for “School of Rock” will be held tomorrow and Friday at Binghamton High School.
The program cost is $300, all students who audition will have a role in the production.
