Brindisi co-sponsors the No Budget No Pay Act

Local News

Meanwhile, Congressman Brindisi says he and his colleagues shouldn’t be paid whenever a budget is late.

Brindisi is a co-sponsor of the No Budget No Pay Act which would stop paying members of Congress when the budget resolution for the next fiscal year isn’t passed by April 15th and when the 12 individual appropriations bills aren’t approved by October 1st.

The act would also ban lawmakers from getting their back pay retroactively.

The current partial government shutdown is caused by the failure for Congress and the President to agree on some of those appropriations bills.
