Students were able to gain some valuable experience to prepare them for the job hunt.
BOCES held its 4th annual work readiness fair at the East Learning Center in Binghamton.
Students were able to work on preparing resumes along with interacting one on one with representatives from local organizations about career opportunities.
16 businesses and 8 agencies were on hand to help out around 75 students.
Instructional Support Teacher for BOCES Tiffany Campbell says the event has really given their students added confidence in preparing for their futures. “I think it’s important because a lot of students need career schools. SOme student doesn’t go right to college and we have some wonderful programs at BOCES. We even have BOCES programs here doing the mock interviews. So it’s just to give our kids that experience for the real world.”
Campbell says at last year’s fair representatives from Dick’s Sporting Goods were so impressed with some of their conversations with students that they were interested in hiring them.
The work readiness fair is open to students at any BOCES school.
