Binghamton sees its largest job loss since 2015

The Greater Binghamton area has seen its largest job loss since 2015.

Data released from the New York State Department of labor shows that from May of 2018 to May of this year, the Binghamton area saw a 1.1 percent or 900 job loss in the private sector. 

Binghamton, Utica and Westchester were the only regions to experience reductions during that time period with Binghamton’s being the largest. 

The state as a whole saw a percent increase in jobs.

Ithaca had the largest percentage increase by adding 1,700 jobs for a 3 percent growth.
