Binghamton recognized by US Conference of Mayors for transition to LED streetlights

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The City of Binghamton is being recognized for its efforts to preserve the environment.

The US Conference of Mayors has recognized Binghamton for its transition to more energy-efficient LED streetlights a couple of years back.

The city received an honorable mention as part of the 2018 Mayors' Climate Protection Awards.

The $4.7 million project converted about 7,000 lights to the modern technology.

Besides saving energy, the LED's give off more light, last longer, and are cheaper to run.
