Binghamton man, 39, charged with misdemeanor animal abuse

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A Binghamton man has been arrested for neglecting a variety of farm animals and pets on property he owns in the Town of Sanford.

Investigators searched 34 Hawkins Road on April 12, and allegedly found two caged cats with respiratory problems and hook worm, sheep that were emaciated and had an untreated eye infections that led to blindness, and a donkey with an untreated contagious skin disease.

Police also say they found four foxes caged in the backyard, one emaciated and another with lice.

Plus, the carcasses of two dead goats were discovered in the barn.

39 year-old John Elmer of Clinton Street was charged with nine counts of misdemeanor animal abuse and was released on an appearance ticket.
