BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Fire Department is investigating a number of suspicious fires at vacant buildings.
Firefighters responded to three blazes Tuesday night - one on Tudor Street, another on Susquehanna Street and this one at 8 Livingston Street on the Southside.
According to Fire Captain Timothy O'Neill, the fire at 8 Livingston broke out at around 3 a.m. and the porch was fully involved when crews arrived.
O'Neill says the vacant building is a total loss and nobody was inside when the fire started.
He says investigators are looking into every possible cause for the fires.
"There's a scientific process that we'll go through. We'll send away samples and things like that to see if they used flammable liquids or something else. Maybe we're just wrong and there's three coincidences and they all had another explanation which is always a possibility," said O'Neill.
Investigators were at 8 Livingston all afternoon with areas taped off for police.
Crews were still putting out small pockets of the fire at around 10 a.m.
