A woman suffers serious injury after rear-ending a manure spreader

Local News

A Tompkins County woman suffered a serious injury this morning when she rear-ended a manure spreader on Route 222 in the Town of Groton.

New York State Police say 41 year-old Jill Ashley Williams of Groton struck the farm equipment that was being pulled by a tractor shortly after 7 a.m.

A few minutes later, another vehicle operated by 71 year-old Albert Perreault of Groton crashed into both the pickup and the tractor.

Police say speed and a bright glare from the sun were factors in both accidents.

Ashley Williams had to be cut from her cab and flown by helicopter to a hospital in Syracuse.
