A traffic crash on the Westside leaves two teenage girls with serious injuries

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton schools community is grieving over a traffic crash on the city's Westside that left two teenage girls with serious injuries.

Binghamton Police have arrested 33-year-old Kevin Wilcox and charged him with vehicular assault and driving under the influence of drugs.

Wilcox is accused of driving his Jeep Wrangler onto the sidewalk on Beethoven Street and striking two female pedestrians, one 16 and the other 19, who were walking home from Rec Park.

The school district released the following statement in response to the tragedy.

We are deeply saddened by the news...involving BHS student Harper Stantz and BHS graduate Britney Laserinko. These bright young women have been an important part of the BCSD community. Our hearts go out to the Stantz and Laserinko families during this difficult time. The district has social workers, psychologists and guidance counselors in place at the high school for any students or staff who need assistance.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the families cover any unmet medical expenses:
