A state contractor is sentenced for defrauding the DOT

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT) – A state contractor has been sentenced to jail for defrauding the DOT and the federal government. 

47-year-old, Nathaniel Lorenz of Holley, New York was convicted on multiple charges of wire and mail fraud.

Lorenz, owner of ACME Powerwashing was paid over $1 million to clean and seal bridges in Binghamton and Buffalo.

He claimed he was buying the sealant from another company he owned, but instead he submitted fake invoices to the DOT.

Lorenz has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay $600,000 in restitution.
