A local plastics manufacturer has been honored by BAE Systems for its exceptional performance.

Eck Plastic Arts on Prospect Avenue in Binghamton makes components used in BAE’s hybrid mass transit buses.

Eck was selected out of 750 suppliers for the 2018 Partner 2 Win Supplier of the Year Award for Power and Propulsion Solutions.

The Pennefeather family purchased the business in June of 2016 and have since then grown the workforce from 14 to 23 employees.

President Brett Pennefeather says they’ve streamlined their systems and upgraded equipment with a goal of always being on time with no rejected parts. “Our customers are constantly rating us on our quality and delivery.  Our quality and delivery ratings are over 99.9% across the board for all of our customers.”

Pennefeather says Eck also produces plastic parts for Raymond, Buckingham and Universal Instruments with a focus on the business to business equipment industry.

He credits BAE for working with local suppliers.

Eck is currently hiring more operators for the shop floor.
