BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A man suspected of a string of copper thefts from vacant homes in Greater Binghamton has been convicted of burglary.
33 year-old Manani Oliveras of Binghamton was found guilty by a Broome County Jury of all 4 counts against him in connection with burglaries that occurred in the Town of Dickinson and in Endicott last June.
Oliveras was also convicted of possessing burglar's tools.
Investigators believed him to be responsible for a rash of break-ins and copper thefts, primarily at vacant, for sale homes in the area last year.
At the time of his arrest, Oliveras had several duffel bags containing copper piping on him.
