OWEGO, N.Y. - Owego's summertime festival celebrating the strawberry is just about ready to take place.
The 38th annual Owego Strawberry Festival will take place next Friday and Saturday.
The event features hundreds of arts, food and craft vendors, plus live music from over 20 bands along plenty of strawberry-themed foods and merchandise.
On Friday night, the event concludes with fireworks at 10 p.m. and on Saturday the parade steps off at 10 a.m.
This year's main entertainment includes large dinosaurs featured on Nickelodeon along with a choreographed aerial art performance.
Historic Owego Marketplace President Bradley Crews says the event is the ultimate showcase of America's cool towns.
"This event is important to showcase Owego and show people that while we're a small town, we're still very much alive and vibrant. We know what's on trend and what's happening," said Crews.
This year's theme is Strawberry Jamboree
People are encouraged to park and take a shuttle bus from Hickories Park and the Tioga County Fairgrounds.
