With the recent heat and humidity making it less comfortable in our area, a local heating and cooling company says it’s easier than ever to add air conditioning to your home.
Appolo Heating in Vestal says there’s an alternative to central air that’s growing in popularity: ductless mini splits.
The systems have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit.
Typically mounted on an exterior wall in a home or business, a 2-inch hole in the wall allows for a conduit housing the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensation drain.
Appolo Branch Manager Fred Nichols says the mini splits have been improving in their efficiency.
“If you have just certain areas in your home, whether it’s a bedroom, a living room, an office where you’re looking to do just one particular room or a couple rooms in your home, ductless mini splits are definitely the way to go,” said Nichols.
Appolo, which purchased J&J Heating and Cooling 10 years ago, is a Lennox Premiere dealer, but it services all makes and models.
It also recently added plumbing with the purchase of the former Guagliardo Plumbing in Owego.
