Local business people got an education in our area’s heroin crisis Friday.

The Greater Binghamton Chamber held one of its Eggs and Issues discussions on Opioid Abuse in Broome County.

The panel included Dawn Lanouette, partner at Hinman Howard & Kattell, Carmela Pirich, Executive Director of the Addiction Center of Broome County, and Carole Cassidy, Executive Director of the Broome Opioid Abuse Council.

Cassidy says it’s important for business owners to know that the addiction problem affects people across all ages, ethnicities and demographics.

“There is an issue, we’ve got these problems, but there are resources in our community that are available to help people. And we do want to help,” said Cassidy.
