Local artists will be painting in the park to help beautify Johnson City.
Mural Fest 2018 will be held Saturday at Floral Avenue Park from noon to 4:00 p.m.
Four lead artists will paint murals around the park, on the face of a shed and in the boys and girls bathrooms.
In addition, a blighted building on Avenue A will receive a facelift in the form of a dinosaur mural.
Anyone can stop by to admire the art, paint alongside the artists and enjoy live music and a barbecue.
Department of Public Art Representative Peg Johnston says people are in awe when they see the art.
“I think when people drive or walk by and see something really cool, they think ‘hey, this is cool, creative people are here.’ There’s always the element of surprise and delight with public art,” said Johnston.
Kids will be able to paint boxes that have been arranged to resemble a family.
Once the murals are complete, they will stay at the park.
This is the fifth Mural Fest event.
