BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Activists will be gathering in Vestal tomorrow to show their support for immigrant children being detained near the US-Mexico border.
Indivisible Binghamton will be rallying on behalf of immigrant children at noon tomorrow outside 3951 Vestal Parkway East in front of Verizon and FedEx. The event is part of protests being held nationwide called Close the Camps where activists are calling for the closure of US detention camps. Indivisible Binghamton co-lead Lori Wahila says what’s happening at these camps is inhumane and uncalled for.
“We’re just disgusted by the treatment of the children being put in jail. Nowhere else when a parent is held for the possible committing of a crime are the children jailed as well. Their treatment there is atrocious, they’re filthy they have no food, no place to sleep.”
Indivisible Binghamton is a grassroots activism organization that was formed in February of 2017.
