Kicking off the Southern Tier Heart Walk
Main event will be held April 7th
The 30th anniversary Southern Tier Heart Walk is coming up soon! To kick off the American Heart Association’s 2019 Heart Walk season, walkers, survivors, volunteers, team coaches, and corporate donors gathered for a “Heart Walk Happy Hour” at the Holiday Inn in Binghamton. The evening featured healthy snacks, a chance to gather information about the Heart Walk, and time to meet with fellow Heart Walk participants and leaders.
The Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2019 at the SUNY Broome Ice Center. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $300,000.
“I’m proud to serve as the Heart Walk Chairperson,” Connerton said. “Heart disease is our number one killer, and stroke is number five. So many of us are touched by these deadly diseases, and by the research and programs funded by the American Heart Association to fight them. Money raised at the Heart Walk helps save lives and make our community healthier.”
Highlights from Tuesday evening’s kick-off include:
